The life-size bronze red rum horse statue was created by Red Rum’s jockey, Philip Blacker, and is currently housed at Aintree Racecourse overlooking the paddocks here. He is the only horse to have won the Grand National three times and was BBC Sports Personality of the Year. His historic victories cemented Red Rum’s legendary status in the Grand National, he even turned on the Blackpool lights in 1977!
